About

Omairi Kyoto is a small operation run from Kyoto. We photograph the city, print the photographs as postcards, write them out by hand, and post them.

The photographs

Every photograph on our cards was taken by us, here. We do not buy stock photography and we do not use anyone else’s pictures. That is also why the cards look like the month they were made in: rain in June, low light in December.

The writing

Cards are written by hand, one at a time, in English. They are short. They describe the place on the card and what the season is doing in the city — not much more than that.

Rituals

Alongside the postcards, we carry out a small ritual on request: a visit to a shrine in Kyoto on your behalf, documented for you in a written report. It is a separate, occasional service rather than the main thing we do. Read about Rituals.
