Privacy Policy
We collect as little as possible, use it only to carry out your order, and share it with no one.
1. What we collect
- Your name — so we know who the order is from.
- Your email address — so we can send order confirmations, reports, and replies.
- A mailing address — so we can post the card. For a gift, this is the recipient's address, which you give us.
- A gift message, if you write one — so we can copy it onto the card by hand.
- The content of your wish (shrine visits only) — so we can offer it at the shrine, and, with Negai, write it on the ema.
- Subscription details — which plan you are on, and which cards have been sent to you, so that you receive one card a month and no more.
- How you found us — the campaign or link that brought you to the site, and an optional single answer at checkout about why you ordered. Both are used only to understand what works, and neither is required.
We do not collect payment card details. Checkout is hosted by Stripe, and your card information goes to Stripe directly.
2. Why we use it
Only to provide the service you ordered and to communicate with you about it. A mailing address is used solely to post cards, and for nothing else. We do not sell your information, we do not use it for profiling or automated decision-making, and we do not add you to a marketing list without your asking.
3. Gift recipients
When you order a gift, we hold the recipient's name and address only for as long as we need to post the card and to handle a re-send if it goes missing. We do not contact them for any other reason, and we do not add them to any list.
4. Your wish stays private
For shrine visits, the content of your wish is treated as private information. We do not publish it, share it, or repeat it in reports, postcards, marketing, or anywhere else. The postcard describes the visit — never the contents of your wish. Where an ema is dedicated, it is placed at the shrine and is not photographed in a way that makes your wish readable.
5. Who we share it with
We do not sell, rent, or otherwise provide your personal information to third parties. The only parties involved are the ones needed to run the order: Stripe, which processes the payment and stores your subscription and shipping details, and the postal services that carry the card to the address you gave us. Each handles that information under its own terms. We will disclose information only if we are legally required to.
6. How long we keep it
We keep order records for as long as we need them for accounting and tax purposes under Japanese law. Mailing addresses for one-off orders are deleted within 12 months of the card being posted; subscriber addresses are kept while the subscription runs and deleted within 12 months of it ending. The content of a wish is deleted within 90 days of the visit being completed. You can ask us to delete any of it sooner.
7. Website analytics
We use Google Analytics to understand how visitors use this site. It sets cookies and reports page views and completed orders to Google. We also use a Pinterest tag, and may use Meta Pixel, to measure how well our advertising works; when active, they report the same kind of information to those companies. None of them ever receives the content of your wish, your name, or your address. You can block them with your browser or ad-blocking settings without affecting your order.
8. Your choices
You can ask us for a copy of the information we hold about you, ask us to correct it, or ask us to delete it. Write to hello@omairikyoto.com and we will respond within 3 business days. Note that we cannot recall a card that has already been posted, or un-make a visit that has already taken place.
9. Security
Order information is stored on access-controlled accounts and is seen only by the people who write and post your cards. No system is perfectly secure, but we keep the amount of information we hold deliberately small.
10. Changes and contact
